Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, a Muskoka resident sent this photo to this newspaper. The image was a screenshot from the social media app Snapchat. It appears that someone was holding a gun with the words “Don’t come to school tomorrow”.

Carolyn Bull, director of communications services for the Trillium Lakelands School District, told the newspaper on Friday, March 25, that the incident is under investigation.
“Huntsville Police have been notified of this image and information. The school constable told Huntsville High School they are investigating and noted that the gun in the photo is a paintball gun,” Bull said.
“We know it, the school board knows it and the school knows it. It is being reviewed by all three agencies,” Handsar said.

A parent reported the photo to Andover police and school officials, who posted a gun with the words, “Yes, don’t come to school tomorrow.”
Authorities traced the post to an Andover High School student. The police went to question him and arrested him. They also discovered that a photo of the gun was downloaded and taken by the juvenile suspect.

In a statement, Andover’s superintendent praised the teamwork of officials, writing, “While we are confident there was no threat, I am proud that our procedures were followed in the event of a threat.”

Pembroke police said they also received a report from Pembroke High School staff about a threatening photo on a 16-year-old’s social media account.
Police interviewed the student and parent and found the black BB gun pictured in the post. They said the teenager did not have access to a weapon and the social media post has since been deleted.

In the letter, the superintendent said police were continuing to investigate, writing, “The student in question was not at school (Monday), will not be at school (Tuesday), and will not be returning until the investigation is complete.
