School is off in the summer! What now? As a juggling parent, you may wonder how to keep your kids entertained and out of bed, after all, during their three months of freedom. Playgrounds and parks are always there, but if you want to get a little more involved with fun learning opportunities, look no further than the top summer camps NYC kids love.

Not surprisingly, the city has a lot to offer. With so many wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation, how is a parent or child to choose? We did our best to narrow down the options to create a diverse, well-balanced list that includes the best New York attractions for kids, sleepaway camps, and academic summer camps. New York Aquarium Camp arrives in 2023 and offers aqua-based activities for campers weekdays from 9am to 3pm. The camp also offers extended care admission that runs from 3-5 p.m. These include fun activities, exhibition visits and nature play exploration. Children in Pre-K (must be at least four) through eighth grade can enjoy a variety of shows centered around jellyfish, sea lions, penguins, whales, crabs, sharks, and more!

If you’re the parent of a young animal lover, you can’t go wrong with the Bronx Zoo’s summer camp option. There are educational and fun experiences for grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. Campers are divided into adorable and aptly named groups such as “Kinderzoo: Welcome to My Biome,” “Zoo Vet Academy,” and “Little Zoo Vets.” There are camping options that start from 3 days and go up to two weeks. The zoo also offers extended care for children.

Camp Corliers focuses on giving kids a place outside to play, learn and laugh with their friends. Chelsea Elementary School offers a “Super Saplings” camp for ages 3 to 4, available as both a half-day camp and a full-day camp. Your child can enroll in the “Growing Branches” camp for ages 5 to 6 or the “Outdoors in NYC” camp for ages 7 to 11. Children will join a vibrant and welcoming community inspired by nature and their own artistic creativity. One thing that sets Camp Corliers apart is its instructional equity and access model (TEAM), which assigns equal educational levels (from zero to maximum) to all families.

Summer Programs For 7th Graders

If a summer filled with games or arts and crafts doesn’t sound right for your child, try the National Math Museum’s MoMath Summer Camp. Don’t worry, campers don’t just work on math problems all day. It’s just as fun as any other camp. The camp divides the group by age-related programs. Epsilons rise from third to third grade, deltas from fourth to sixth grade, and gammas from seventh to ninth grade. There are five math-themed camps that kids can choose from. Masks are required in the museum.

Monmouth Stars Summer Camp — Steampark, Inc

The McBurney YMCA has a traditional day camp and swim camp and kindergarten camp, but it also offers a robotics camp from 6 to 8! Kids can design, build and program independent robots using LEGO Mindstorms equipment and software. While having fun, they are flexing their creative muscles, problem solving, working with others and learning STEM skills. When not building robots, they enjoy traditional camp activities from arts and crafts to science and more.

92 Y is a classic choice when sending your child to camp in NYC. Campers are transported to its beautiful 50-acre Rockland County campground for an activity-filled summer that will make even adults jealous. Some of the activities available to campers include equestrian, martial arts, robotics, rock wall climbing, filmmaking and cooking. Rockland County is six miles from the Bronx, so plan to take the kids to a city bus stop.

When it comes to Asphalt Green summer day camps, there are two places to choose from. The Upper East Side and Battery Park City locations offer plenty of activities to satisfy any camper. If a day camp isn’t the right fit, mini camps, swim camps and soccer camps are also offered. Their summer camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Training includes all activities, field trips, daily lunch and refreshments.

Great footballers are not born – they are made. Even Cristiano Ronaldo and Megan Robin have to start somewhere, right? If you see greatness in your child (or if they really want to kick the ball around), Downtown United Soccer Club is where they’ll thrive. Day camp offers a full-day option for older campers and a half-day option for younger campers. With over 25 years around, they know how to teach kids skill work, ball skills, coordination and movement.

West Side has many options for kids and a different theme each year. This year it will be “West Side Water World,” which will be imagined through fun arts and crafts and programming. It’s about teamwork, physical activity and inclusion. This Y has camps for all ages up to 12 years old.

Summer Programs For 7th Graders

Parents can choose between various 14th Street Y Camp options. One option, New Country Day Camp, is perfect for kids who want to participate in a variety of activities, from science to athletics. It is located in the middle of the 75-acre Staten Island Greenbelt. Children in grades K-8 are free to choose a camp outside of Manhattan. Newtown Day Camp is for children ages 2-5 at the 14th Street Y facilities in Manhattan. They also offer a New Country Pride camp for LGBTQ+ youth ages 5-13. The three-day camps pride themselves on teaching children creative arts, science and technology, and sports and games in a fun and inclusive setting.

Nyc Summer Day Camp At Aviator Sports In Brooklyn

For youngsters who can’t resist an American Ninja Warrior marathon, this offering is a kid-friendly version of the reality show with fun obstacles in a safe environment. One feature that sets Chelsea Bears Ninja & Parkout Camp apart from the rest is that they offer 10% early bird savings to any family that registers before March 31st. You can sign up within four weeks and save extra. Five percent. Ninja and Parker Camp allows campers to hang, jump, run, and stumble. Instructors teach skills in a safe environment and there is a swimming period three days a week. And, you can do it all at a discount.

Your child will learn first-hand about nature at Queens Botanical Garden Camp. Living in New York doesn’t always offer a lot of greenery, so this is an opportunity for your child to plant, play, and observe in a so-called “urban oasis” of people, plants, and diverse cultures. Celebrated through gardens and educational programs. He will come home from camp knowing more about the natural world than when he started at the beginning of the season.

City Sail is a Hudson River Community Sailing week-long sailing and STEM camp where kids can enjoy a summer vacation on the river. Camp recommends two weeks to start, so kids have a chance to learn basic skills and then strengthen those skills. If you’re worried about playing in inclement weather, don’t be. They do not go into the water if there are hazardous conditions (wind lasting more than 20 days or imminent lightning/thunder).
