It has had a summer makeover with new storage, counters, fresh paint, and of course, a new LG washer and dryer with all the bells and whistles. With the help of The Home Depot, her cleaning is no longer a chore, and she’s here to share her before and after experiences, as well as some of her favorite features of her new appliances. .
One of the most underutilized spaces in our home is our laundry room. There was no storage, and the appliances were limited for our cleaning needs. Our laundry opens to our kitchen and living room and seeing it in a dark way is a daily reminder that our family’s needs are not being met. We decided to tackle our laundry this summer and build a laundry area that feels like an extension of our home.

Laundry Room Summer Refresh
To appreciate how far our cleaning has come, you have to see it first. You won’t believe the place is the same, trust me!
Our search for a washing machine began by visiting Home Depot online. We used the filters on the site to help us choose the washer and dryer that would suit our family’s needs. Since we have a small laundry room, the side-by-side setup frees up more space, and I can have a shelf on top to keep everyday cleaning supplies and a place to clothes folder.
I loved the LG High Efficiency Front Load Machine and the LG High Efficiency Front Load Dryer; The fingerprint resistant black stainless steel color is very stylish and I think using a darker color will help our space.
Home Depot has videos on its website that show how to measure for new appliances. This is important as we have a small area. We visited the accessories in the store and loved how they all looked!

The LG washing machine has many changes to help make washing clothes easy. I use these laundry detergents often for my family. Illness is very good for bedding and clothes; I use this change on my son’s clothes after playing outside in the grass. The change will help keep your clothes clean. I like to use the Heritage spin for my husband’s work clothes and the Hand Wash for my more casual clothes.
I also love the amazing LG TubWash feature that cuts 20 minutes of wash time for multiple washes. No more waiting hours for loads of laundry, it’s done that way! My favorite feature of the LG dryer is the steam option! Use the Steam Fresh cycle on shirts, duvets and bedding. I also love the Freshen Up cycle; I used this pattern this summer for my son’s clothes. He swims every day and in this way his clothes and towels stay fresh.
The ordering and delivery process is also very easy. The delivery people installed our new washer and dryer in a timely manner and made sure everything was in order before we left. With our new washer and dryer in place, I’m inspired to tackle the rest of our laundry room and finally create a space that doesn’t look like laundry.
We have floor tiles in our kitchen and decided to make it look like our bathroom using Daltile Restore Bright White Tiles. These tiles are a small version of our kitchen floor tiles and fit in well with the small work in our bedroom.

This was our first tile project and we were a little nervous. Fortunately, a Home Depot store associate was able to help us choose the right materials to complete our project. On top of our washer and dryer, we also installed floating shelves to provide additional storage. We’ve gone years without a counter in our laundry room and it’s really hard. Socks always disappear after we wash and dry them. When the installers moved our old washer and dryer, it was a shame to see all the threads and clothes falling behind the machines!
Using PureBond Birch Plywood that we cut to size at The Home Depot, we were able to DIY a counter for our space. I went to the wood flooring department for inspiration to find the perfect color. I found a natural wood sample that I loved and used it to help me choose the perfect stain from Varathane. The Natural color is great and enhances the beauty of the wood. As a bonus it dries in an hour! I wanted the room to be light and open, so I painted the walls Swiss Coffee by Behr. I also gave the trim a fresh coat of fresh white paint.
I absolutely love our new bathroom and I love my new appliances. The LG washer and dryer in our laundry room is a real game changer! I like that our space will be bigger and brighter. I love all the storage we have now. Laundry is no longer a chore. The room is now a place I like to be. In addition, since our laundry room is also the way our guests enter our backyard, it is no longer an eyesore. It’s very good!
